Sinclair secures EU CE mark for Kytogen Defend

Sinclair Aesthetics has received EU CE marking for Kytogen Defend, opening the way for the injectable skin-quality treatment to launch across European markets.¹

The product is based on carboxymethyl chitosan (CM-chitosan) and is described by Sinclair as the first injectable of its kind to bring the material into aesthetic medicine. Unlike conventional chitosan, which is commonly derived from shellfish, Kytogen Defend uses a non-animal source derived from the white mushroom Agaricus bisporus.¹

Under its CE mark, Kytogen Defend is indicated for superficial tissue filling and improving skin appearance, including roughness and epidermal hydration, on the face and décolleté in adults with dehydrated skin.¹

Why it matters

The launch adds another entrant to the fast-growing injectable skin-quality category, but with a technology that differs from the hyaluronic acid and polynucleotide-based products already widely used in clinics.

For Sinclair, it also broadens a portfolio that already includes products such as Ellansé, MaiLi and Lanluma, giving the company another injectable technology focused specifically on skin quality.¹
