Healthxchange secures investment from Growth Partner
The deal gives one of the UK and Ireland’s largest aesthetics distributors additional backing to invest in growth, education and customer service.
Healthxchange has announced a new partnership with investment firm Growth Partner, marking another significant investment into the UK medical aesthetics market.
Founded in 2000 by Dr John Curran, Healthxchange has grown from a clinician-founded family business into one of the sector’s largest distributors, now supporting more than 10,000 aesthetic practitioners across the UK and Ireland.
Its portfolio includes partnerships with major aesthetics and skincare brands including Allergan, Galderma, Obagi and Medik8.
Growth Partner’s investment is expected to support further expansion, alongside investment in Healthxchange’s education and service offering. The company will remain family-led and family-run, with Jack Curran continuing as CEO.
Why it matters
The deal is another indication of how the aesthetics sector is maturing as an industry.
Investment is increasingly moving beyond individual clinics and manufacturers and into the wider infrastructure supporting the market — including distributors, education providers and clinic support services.
Growth Partner said it had spent several years following the aesthetics ecosystem as it has grown and professionalised, describing Healthxchange as a critical part of the sector’s value chain.
For clinics, the immediate experience may not change significantly. However, additional investment could allow Healthxchange to expand its education, services and infrastructure while strengthening its position with both clinics and manufacturers.
The Harley Take
Private investment moving further into the aesthetics supply chain is worth watching.
As distributors become larger, better funded and increasingly sophisticated businesses, the relationship between manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors and clinics is likely to continue evolving.
The bigger question may be what this means for the structure of the UK aesthetics market over the next five years — and where investors look next.
